Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) class at Ritsumeikan University

My class on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), entitled “Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Comprehensive Class: Theory, Software, and Data” will start on September 10th  at Ritsumeikan University, College of Science and Engineering, Department of Environmental Systems Engineering, for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students. It is a comprehensive LCA class that covers (1) the LCA method, the theory, and the approach; (2) The Life Cycle Impact Assessment Methods; (3) the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data; and (4) practical case studies on LCA software.

[NEWS & Updates] My talk and workshop on electric cars at JEEIT 2019, Amman, Jordan in April 2019, IEEE Jordan International Joint Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (JEEIT 2019)

I was invited by the 2019 IEEE Jordan International Joint Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (JEEIT 2019) to deliver a talk and a 6-hour workshop on Electric Cars held in Amman, Jordan, April 8th-11th, 2019. JEEIT 2019 is the joint conference organized by IEEE – Jordan Section, Jordan Engineers Association, and Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan. JEEIT 2019 merges the following three conferences. The 5th IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT 2019). The 11th Jordanian Int’l Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (JIEEEC 2019). The 9th Int’l Conference on Information Technology (ICIT 2019). My talk and workshop will be on the environmental impacts of Electric Cars with comparison to the traditional cars, the life cycle assessment (LCA) theory and approach in evaluating the entire life cycle of those types of cars from mining to end-of-life, how to assess their environmental performance and how LCA can be used to enhance the development of the technology for environmental and sustainable perspectives as will discussion on the materials involved. Further, the talk will address the electronic components of those cars and the electricity used from an environmental aspect. This would be a unique discussion from an LCA perspective especial in the MEN region (the Middle East and North Africa). I am also pleased to participate and to contribute to the joint conference as an 8-year member of IEEE, international and as a member of the Jordan Engineers Association. Update 1, Friday, August 31, 2018: The talk and the workshop content is now available at https://jeeit.net/tutorial-workshops. More details on the joint Conference and the registration information are available here: http://www.jeeit.net.
